ALL SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGERY
BALDNESS
(The truth about its treatment)
Baldness in 90% of cases in men and women is of genetic-homonal
origin, so hair follicles are genetically marked to fall, in the
presence of masculine hormone DHT in blood.
For
that reason the topical treatments (of external application) the
only thing that do is to slow down the falling process since they
do not neutralize the original cause of the problem.
The
first product that fullfills the requirements to neutralize the
cause is finasteride (PROPECIA), since it lows in blood the level
of circulating masculine hormone (DHT) stopping this way the process
of fall in certain cases. Could be a very usefull tool for us.
This
effect, if it appears, can be reversed three weeks after the suspention
of the intake of the product.
Thats why the only efective treatment without any side effects
is the hair transplantation, whose result is definitive and for
all forever.
MICROGRAFT: Small piece of full scalp skin that includes
from 1-3 hair follicle.
MINIGRAFT: Small piece of full scalp skin that includes
from 3-5 hair follicles.
STANDARD GRAFT: 5 o more hair follicles.
DONOR SITE: It is the area in the scalp that goes from
one ear to the other one trough the occipital region, that is
not marked (generically or hormonally) to be affected by baldness.
This is what hair transplant surgeons should consider their "hair
bank" that usually goes from 60 to 100 square centimeters (25/40
square inches).
This area can be used only once because it would not reproduce.
Usually it takes from 2 to 4 surgical sessions to use all of it.
It is interesting to know that the total amount of scalp in the
human being is 400 square centimeters (160 square inches).
HAIR DENSITY: It is the number of hairs you can count in each
square centimeter. This varies from 120 to 220 hairs with an average
range of 160. So if we multiply 90 square centimeters of donor
site X 160 we are going to obtain 14.400 hairs, that is the "hair
bank" for our transplant surgeries.
IMPORTANT: The total number of hairs in a normal human head is
100.000.
FOLLICULAR UNIT: Taking a look to the scalp with a magnification
loop or lens it is easy to notice thta hair emerges in groups
of 1, specially 2, 3 and 4 hairs. This way of appearing in the
outside is preserved inside as an anatomical unit.
A
FOLLICULAR UNIT IS A MICROSCOPIC GROUP OF HAIRS THAT NATURALLY
GROW TOGETHER

SO
IF WE MAKE THE DISECTION OF OUR MICRO-MINIGRAFTS UNDER MAGNIFICATION
WE CAN PRESERVE THE FOLLICULAR UNITS, OPTIMIZING THE DONOR SITE
AND ACHIEVING A BETTER DENSITY.
